What You Will Master in This Tutorial

  • Set up Python 3.12+ and write clean, readable, PEP 8-compliant code.
  • Work with fundamental data structures: Lists, Dictionaries, Sets, and Tuples.
  • Control program execution flow with conditionals, loops, and list comprehensions.
  • Encapsulate logic into reusable functions with type hints and default arguments.
  • Understand Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) in Python: Classes, Methods, and Inheritance.
  • Test and execute your scripts interactively using the Online Code Playground.

Pricing is where most people stall when they try to sell AI agents. Charge by the hour and you cap your income at your calendar; charge a random flat fee and you either scare the client or leave money on the table. The working approach used by freelancers and small agencies is value-based pricing: price against the money the agent saves or earns the client, not against your effort. The calculator below does that math with you, in the open β€” every formula is shown, and you can adjust any assumption. Below it, a short quiz helps you pick which of the four proven agent types to build (and sell) first.

How the pricing math works

  • Monthly value created = hours the agent saves per week Γ— 4.33 weeks Γ— what one hour of the client's time is worth. This is the size of the pie.
  • Suggested setup fee = your build hours Γ— your hourly price, plus a 25% margin for project risk, revisions and warranty. It is a one-time fee, paid before or split across delivery milestones.
  • Suggested monthly retainer = 30% of the monthly value created. The client keeps 70% of the savings every month, which is why the offer is easy to say yes to β€” and the retainer covers your hosting costs, monitoring, tweaks and support.
  • Client ROI and payback show how fast the setup fee pays for itself from the monthly savings after the retainer. If payback lands under two or three months, you have a pitch most owners understand in one sentence.

These are starting points for a conversation, not magic numbers. A cautious first client might negotiate the setup fee down in exchange for a longer retainer commitment; a client in an expensive market (lawyers, clinics, real estate) has a higher hourly value and supports higher fees. What the calculator cannot do is guarantee anyone's income β€” closing deals still depends on your offer, your proof and your follow-up. Which AI agent should you build first?

The best first agent is not the most impressive one β€” it is the one matched to a painful, repetitive, measurable problem you can already reach a buyer for. Four types cover most of the real demand we see from local businesses and online clients: customer support, voice reception, content production, and lead follow-up. Answer three honest questions about the business you want to sell to (it can be your own) and the quiz will point at one, with the reasoning and a tutorial to start with. If two types tie, it picks the one with the clearest return on investment β€” you can always sell the second agent to the same client later, which is exactly how small agencies grow retainers.

Quiz: Which AI Agent Should You Build First?

1. Where does the business lose the most time each week?
2. Where does money leak out today?
3. What material already exists to build with?

Next steps: run the calculator with your real numbers, then build the agent the quiz picked. The build patterns are in our AI agents tutorial, the voice-specific playbook is the B2B voice agents guide, and the rest of the money-making blueprints live in the AI business section. Tools, honestly reviewed, are in the directory.
